Animal Intake Coordinator - Dogs

This Animal Intake Coordinator (AIC) is a volunteer position. The AIC will:

1. Take all incoming calls for surrender requests and work with other shelters if the need arises.

2. Arrange intake of dogs to perspective fosters, if available

3. Meet dogs ( if possible) and do an inquiry form. Once a dog is taken in, a Medical Intake Form will need to be filled out. This form will need to be sent to Rhonda Karlen and the Veterinarian you will be using. Any previous medical records should be obtained (if possible).

4.Place dog in a foster home. Field questions and concerns that may arise.

5. Put the dog on Petfinder (when ready). The AIC will also do background and reference checks on potential adopters. Once complete, the application will be forwarded to the foster for approval.

6. Will have all necessary records and adoption application ready at the time of adoption.

7. Will interview potential foster homes and (if accepted) will prepare the Foster Contract for signing and supply the Foster Handbook.

Transport Drivers

Do you have a reliable method of transportation? Auto insurance? Friends of Noah could use your help!

Animal Transport:

  • Transfer rescue animals (cats and dogs) from high-kill shelters to local foster homes.

  • Take rescue animals (cats/dogs) to veterinary or other appointments

  • Ability to lift animals into a vehicle a huge plus.

  • This person(s) will work closely our Canine and Feline Intake Coordinators.


General Transport

  • Pick up large quantities of pet food and other items for fosters and/or CAFE programs

  • Comfortable traveling to the greater Chicago area is a plus!

  • Truck and trailer are not required (but helpful!) A U-Haul will be provided as needed.

Please note….mileage is reimbursable following the IRS guidelines. In 2023, this amount is $.14/per mile.
